Giacomelli to ref Roma v Palermo

Piero Giacomelli has been handed the whistle for Roma's next league encounter against Palermo on Sunday 21 February at the Stadio Olimpico

It will be the fifth time the referee from Friuli has crossed paths with the Giallorossi, whose record under his direction reads two wins and two draws.

Roma achieved victories on their first and most recent outing with Giacomelli in the middle: Roma 3-0 Verona back on 1 September 2013 – with goals from Maicon, Miralem Pjanic and Adem Ljajic – and then Roma 3-1 Empoli on 17 October 2015 when Pjanic, Daniele De Rossi and Mohamed Salah got on the scoresheet.

In between there was a 1-1 with Sampdoria in November 2013 and a goalless draw with Parma last February, both at the Olimpico.

Giacomelli will be joined at the Stadio Olimpico by linesmen Alberto Tegoni and Giacomo Paganessi, fourth official Espedito Marco

Musolino, and additional assistants Gianpaolo Calvarese and Daniele Chiffi.

Kick-off for this Week 26 fixture has been set for 20:45 CET.
