This initiative continues the important work of the “Calcio con il Cuore” project, launched by AS Roma in 2018 to raise awareness among young footballers in the capital about first aid and to train early defibrillation educators.
The handover event took place at the XXV Aprile sports centre in the Pietralata district and was attended by Roma player Lucas Gourna-Douath, who was welcomed by Liberi Nantes President Alberto Urbinati, along with IV Municipio President Massimiliano Umberti, Vice-President Annarita Leobruni and a group of fans from the Roma Club Pietralata.
Founded in Rome in 2007, Liberi Nantes is a non-profit, independent, secular and apolitical amateur sports association entirely run by volunteers. It promotes sport, particularly football, as a key tool for personal growth and social inclusion.
Each year, the association reaches over 200 people, many of whom are in vulnerable conditions or fleeing war zones. For them, sport offers a moment of relief and escape, as well as a means to restore human dignity, rebuild their identity and regain trust and connection with others.
