At the Nuova Valle Aurelia football school, where our legendary captain nicknamed 'Core de Roma' put in endless energy after his playing career had finished, imparting love for football, the finals of the first Giacomo Losi Memorial took place. The event, which featured the classes of 2017, 2016, 2014, 2012 and 2011 of various teams from across the city, starting with AS Roma, comes four months on from the death of this iconic figure.
'Core de Roma' embraced all the kids who took to the field, thanks to the banner bearing his image, which the Curva Sud donated to the Losi family, and which the family, in turn, decided to entrust to AS Roma for safekeeping.
Alberto De Rossi, who was in attendance representing the club, read this message: "Giacomo Losi was a great captain of ours, an exceptional person and an example for all those who love football. That's why I'm very happy to be here and bring greetings from the Friedkin family and the whole club to Giacomo's family and to the whole Nuovo Valle Aurelia.
"He did so much for you and together with you for so many years and it is wonderful that this event has been organised to remember him. Congratulations to the organisation, to the players who took to the field and a heartfelt thank you to all of you."
Today more than ever, Losi's example is alive in our hearts.
