The 29-year-old midfielder has joined the club in a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain, putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until 30 June 2025.
"Coming back to Rome is always a special thing, but doing so now as a Roma player is even more special," revealed Paredes. "I’d like to thank the fans for welcoming me and Roma for bringing me back to the club where I launched my career in Europe. Last year was an incredibly happy one for me with the World Cup, so now I want to keep tasting success and I’m convinced I can do just that with this team."
“As soon as he heard that we were interested, Leandro made it clear that his target was to return to Roma," explained Tiago Pinto, Roma’s General Manager, Football. “His strong willpower made us even more convinced that we should bring him back to the Giallorossi and we’re delighted to see him back in Roma colours.
“Ever since his first stint here, he has matured and gained international experience, combined with his knowledge of Italian football and his technical attributes, we’re sure this will all prove to be crucial and strengthen our squad."
Having come through the youth ranks at Boca Juniors, Leandro initially joined Roma in summer 2014 following a brief spell at Chievo. The Argentine spent two seasons at the club either side of a season-long loan at Empoli. Paredes has also turned out for the likes of Zenit and Juventus, as well as French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
At international level, the midfielder won the Copa America in 2021, while he got a taste of World Cup glory in Qatar alongside his new team-mate Paulo Dybala in 2022.
Welcome back home, Leandro!
