Baldanzi’s post-match reaction

Tommaso Baldanzi spoke to DAZN after the 1-0 victory over Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday in Serie A Week 29.

Here’s what the creative midfielder had to say.

Congratulations on your performance. You’re stepping up your game, also thanks to the coach’s trust in you. What has changed within this team, both in terms of play and as a group? We saw a great gesture towards Artem Dovbyk today, for example.

“Honestly, I don’t know exactly what has changed, but something definitely has. We’re an extraordinary group, we all help each other, we’ve been through tough times and we don’t want to go back there. We can’t afford to drop any more points and we want to pick up three points every Sunday. On a personal level, I feel the coach has trust in me. There was a period when I played a bit less, but I kept working for moments like this, to be ready when called upon.”

Did you speak to your former coach Davide Nicola?

“Yes, we greeted each other. I wished him the best for the rest of the season and he did the same for me.”

We saw you play between the lines behind the striker, but there was also talk of you playing as a mezzala. Is that your preferred position?

“Honestly, yes. I feel comfortable between the lines. We have a few players in the squad with similar characteristics, so we need to find ways to function well on the pitch. I also feel comfortable playing down the left. Wherever the coach puts me, it’s the same for me.”
