AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur set for July meeting in Israel

The club is delighted to announce it will face Tottenham Hotspur in a special encounter in Israel this July.

Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad will travel to Haifa to face the Premier League side in the high-profile I-Tech Cup.

The game, which will take place at the 30,780-capacity Sammy Ofer Stadium, is scheduled for Saturday 30 July (kick-off time still to be confirmed).

“This match against Tottenham will be an invaluable test as we continue our preparations for the new season,” said Tiago Pinto, the club’s General Manager.

“What is more, the opportunity to play in Haifa and Israel will be an exciting new occasion for all of us, and we cannot wait to experience it.”

This match will be the club’s fourth pre-season meeting with Spurs, following summer contests in 2008, 2017 and, most recently, 2018.

It will serve as one of the final warm-up matches for the Giallorossi as they prepare for the 2022-23 Serie A season, where they will also compete in the UEFA Europa League.

The I-Tech Cup is a format created by event organisers MTR7, designed to showcase local technologies in a country that carries a reputation as a hub for high-tech companies.

The organisers have overseen a number of recent matches in Haifa, with the most recent of those - a meeting between Barcelona and Real Madrid legends in July 2021 – watched by 28,000 fans.

A 2019 match organised by MTR7 at the Sammy Ofer stadium that featured the likes of Ronaldinho, Kaka, Cafu and more was watched by around 30 million people worldwide.

Fabio Paratici, Managing Director of Football, Tottenham Hotspur, added: “We are delighted to be heading to Israel as the final part of our pre-season preparations and I would like to thank MTR7 for providing the opportunity for the Club to visit in July.

“We are looking forward to an exciting fixture against a strong opponent in AS Roma. It will provide good preparation for the start of the new season the following weekend, as we look to build on a strong 2021-22 season.”

Further details on the contest, including ticket information and where fans around the world can watch the match, will be announced in due course.
