Perez left his boyhood club Barcelona in January to join the Giallorossi and, after scoring his first Serie A goal for the club against SPAL in midweek, believes he is in the ideal spot to continue his development.
“I’m very happy here,” Perez told asroma.com.
“I am sure I’ve made the right choice, because of the coaching staff we have here and the teammates too – I really feel at home in this group.”
Perez was a constant threat at the Stadio Paolo Mazza playing from a more central attacking role, a position he is adjusting to with coach Paulo Fonseca’s switch to a 3-4-2-1 system in recent weeks.
The Spaniard believes the change has been both good for him and for the squad as a whole.
“Since we changed the tactical setup the coach has asked us to press higher up the pitch, to attack with more speed,” he said.
“Since the game against Brescia I think you have been able to see the results from this type of play. Overall, over the last five games we’ve played really well.”
Fiorentina are the visitors to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening, as the Giallorossi look to extend their five-match unbeaten run.
Away trips to face Torino and Juventus then follow, before the Serie A campaign wraps up and the knockout stages of the Europa League resume.
“The team is focused, we need to make sure we pick up as many points as possible over the last part of the season,” he said.
“They will be important to make sure we go into the game against Sevilla in August in the best shape possible. I’m confident we can keep on improving as we continue down this path.”
