The 18-year-old Nigerian, making his third appearance for the first team, sealed the points with a late header after coming off the bench.
“It's hard to describe what it feels like to score your first goal in Serie A,” Sadiq admitted after the game. “I knew I was capable of doing a good job but at the same time I can hardly believe I actually did it.
“I'm delighted to have scored after coming on at a difficult time and to have played my part in such an important win for the team.”
How did you feel when you went on?
“I came on at a tricky stage of the game and I must thank Rudi Garcia for believing in my ability and putting me out there. We're all thrilled to get the three points at home and hopefully we can keep going now.”
What's happened to Edin Dzeko?
“Dzeko is a massive help to me in training. He always points out when I do something wrong. I've picked up so much from him and it's an honour to train with him. I'm sure he'll start scoring again soon.”
Should Dzeko be worried now that that you've made your mark and he's suspended for the Chievo match?
“I don't have any claim to anything at the moment. All I can do is promise to give my all whenever I'm called upon.”
How have you found these first few months living in Rome?
“It wasn't easy at the beginning but I've always tried to get on with my job and do my best every day both with the Primavera and the first team so that I can improve. I have to keep head down and my feet on the ground and just keep knuckling down.”
