Five facts and figures on Roma 2-1 Inter

Roma

We look back at Roma's win over Inter at the Stadio Olimpico in Sunday's late kick-off with the help of five interesting facts and figures...

1

You never forget your first time. On Sunday, Luciano Spalletti won his first match home league match against Inter as Roma coach. Before last night, the Tuscan had never beaten the Nerazzurri at home in the league since he began his career in the top flight in 2005/06. Last season's fixture ended 1-1 with a goal from Radja Nainggolan. Spalletti's only victories over Inter at the Olimpico have come in the Coppa Italia - in the 2007 final first leg (6-2) and the 2008 showpiece (2-1). Spalletti's overall record against the Nerazzurri reads: six wins, six draws and seven defeats.

7

Sunday's victory brought up a seventh straight home win in the league stretching back to the end of last season. The Giallorossi have taken maximum points from their league matches at the Olimpico so far this term, securing four wins in as many matches against Udinese, Sampdoria, Crotone and Inter. Roma ended last season with a trio of victories at the Olimpico against Torino, Napoli and Chievo.

22

The Giallorossi won on 2 October in the league for the first time since 1994. 22 years ago, Roma - under Carlo Mazzone - saw off Sampdoria 1-0 with a goal from Abel Balbo. Yesterday it was the turn of another striker, in the shape of Edin Dezko, who bagged the winner and showed plenty of nice touches.

50

The 2-1 victory over the Nerazzurri was also Roma's 50th league win against Inter both home and away. The remainder of the 171 top-flight meetings are made up of 49 draws and 72 Nerazzurri victories.

2014

Roma hadn't beaten Inter at home since 30 November 2014. A little under two years had passed since a 4-2 success for Rudi Garcia's side thanks to goals from Gervinho and Jose Cholevas and a Miralem Pjanic double. That run was ended with Sunday's 2-1 win.
