Monchi, winner of five Europa League titles during his time with Sevilla, met the media for the first time on Wednesday, where he was introduced by Gandini.
And the Giallorossi CEO paid tribute to the president, Jim Pallotta, for helping to bring Monchi to the club.
"It’s a great honour to be at this news conference alongside someone of such huge renown in the world of football," Gandini said. "I’d just like to say two things: firstly, a sincere ‘thank you’ goes to the president, Jim Pallotta, the person who wanted this to happen before anyone else and got personally involved to make sure Monchi joined Roma.
"I’d also like to thank Ricky Massara for the professionalism and dedication he showed while working as interim sporting director. He will stay at the club and continue his work with us."
