AS Roma are pleased to confirm the signing of midfielder Maxime Gonalons from French side Olympique Lyonnais.
Gonalons, 28, joins the Giallorossi for €5 million.
He has signed a four-year contract until 2021.
"After speaking with Monchi and the coach about their ambitions, I did not hesitate for a moment," Gonalons said. "For this reason there were no issues and everything was agreed very quickly.
"I cannot wait for this new adventure."
The central midfielder, a full France international, has spent his entire career to date at Lyon – making his debut for the club at the start of the 2009-10 season.
He went on to make more than 330 appearances for Les Gones – putting him eighth on the list of the club’s all-time leading appearance makers - and won both the Coupe de France and Trophee des Champion in 2012.
“Maxime is a footballer of international stature,” sporting director Monchi said. “In addition to his technical ability, we are delighted to add his experience and personality to our group.
"I am extremely happy to be able to welcome him to AS Roma.”
Gonalons made his international debut in November 2011, and has gone on to win seven caps for France.
Predominantly a defensive midfielder, he has occasionally also played as a centre-back.
