Alessandro Florenzi marked his first appearance in more than 10 months with a goal as Roma beat Chapecoense 4-1 in a friendly at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday night.
Making his return to first-team action as captain for the night, Florenzi enjoyed almost the perfect return - scoring the opening goal from the penalty spot to set Eusebio Di Francesco's side on the way to victory against their Brazilian guests.
Florenzi was eventually withdrawn after 75 minutes, having impressed with his touch and rampant runs from the right-back position as he looked sharp and fit throughout the game.
There was further excitement for the Giallorossi fans as they saw new signing Patrik Schick make a 15-minute cameo at the end of the game - although arguably the most emotional moment of the night came at the other end, as Alan Ruschel, one of only six survivors of the tragic air disaster Chapecoense suffered last year, scored his side's only goal of the game.
The Brazilian also converted from the penalty spot, midway through the second half, earning a respectful ovation from the entire crowd both then and when he was eventually substituted.
On a night that was more about tribute and one football club supporting another than the black and white of the final scoreline, Primavera forward Mirko Antonucci scored twice for Roma - with Diego Perotti getting the game's other goal.
The Giallorossi are next in action in eight days time - as they travel to Sampdoria in their third Serie A game of the campaign.
