The club’s media department have been nominated for the ‘Best Use of Content on a Social Platform’ and ‘Best Travel/Leisure/Sports Content Marketing Strategy/Campaign’ for the content distributed around Francesco Totti's retirement, as the club extensively covered the iconic forward's emotional last appearance for the club.
In the latter category they have also been nominated on a second occasion, for the summer transfer announcement videos that took social media by storm during the last transfer window.
The awards are judged by a panel of marketing and content experts, with the winners of the awards unveiled at an event in London on November 7.
"I have been judging the Content Awards since they started, in that time the quality has improved tremendously,” said Andrew Canter, chief content officer for Global Living Brands/BCMA and one of the judges.
"It’s the rate of growth and interest … [that] pushes people to be more creative and think more about strategy rather than just more tactical, experimental or PR-driven ideas.”
Roma's strategy for distributing content around Totti's retirement saw the club generate more than 70 million views and over 800,000 shares on Facebook.
The summer transfer announcement videos, which became viral sensations, were widely lauded for changing the wider approach to such content.
