AS Roma Women are pleased to announce the signing of defender Allyson Renee Swaby.
Swaby, a centre-back by trade, is a United States-born Jamaica international, having represented the national team on eight occasions.
She recently helped Jamaica qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The 22-year-old represented the Boston College Eagles at collegiate level in the United States, before moving to Europe to play for Icelandic club Knattspyrnufélag Fjarðabyggðar.
“I am very excited to be joining AS Roma,” Swaby said.
“It is a great opportunity to play high-level soccer, and to experience it in Europe as well.
“It is very exciting to play for such an historic club in their first season with a women’s team, and I’m very excited to see what the future holds.”
Swaby will wear the No. 25 shirt for the Giallorosse.
Coach Betty Bavagnoli’s side are currently on a five-match unbeaten run and sit comfortably in the top half of the early Serie A standings.
They face league leaders AC Milan at Stadio Tre Fontane on Saturday afternoon.
