Francesco Totti netted his first ever goal for the Roma first team 22 years ago today.
On 4 September 1994, Roma - under coach Carlo Mazzone - met Zdenek Zeman's Foggia in the opening match of the season at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Giallorossi coach decided to start young Francesco Totti, who would turn 18 a few weeks later. However, the old adage reads 'If you're good enough, you're old enough' and indeed 'the boy' Francesco - wearing No. 9 - opened the scoring with a powerful, well-placed effort that left opposition keeper Francesco Mancini with no chance.
There were tears, applause and rave reviews for Totti in the press. It was his first goal in Serie A and his first competitive strike for the senior side, having made his Roma debut two seasons earlier - in a 2-0 victory at Brescia on 28 March 1993 - aged just 16 and a half.

The years have passed and the goals have kept on coming. Over time Totti has made history at Roma, becoming the Giallorossi's most iconic player, as well as holding several individual records for the club, including most appearances (758 in all competitions) and goals scored (304 at the time of writing).
Totti's relationship with Roma is a lasting love story, with the captain now embarking on his 25th season with the club.
