The highly esteemed midfielder, who won four Champions League titles with Barcelona in addition to one World Cup and two European Championships with Spain, spoke of his admiration for Salah and other Arab stars.
“As for Arab footballers playing in Europe I really like Roma’s Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah, Porto’s Algerian player Yacine Brahimi as well as Valencia's Sofiane Feghouli, who is also Algerian,” said Xavi.
“Salah is a super fast player, sometimes his speed is unbelievable,” he added.
Xavi was then asked whether Salah was quicker even than Cristiano Ronaldo, to which the Spaniard replied: “Possibly, his strength is his amazing speed and charging defenders as soon as he gets possession.”
Salah – who has scored 12 goals in 33 appearances so far this season – is in international action on Tuesday as Egypt take on Nigeria in Alexandria as part of their African Cup of Nations 2017 qualifying campaign.
