Food for the Community: AS Roma Business Club and Q8 supporting the region

The initiatives in support of Caritas continue, providing assistance to vulnerable families across the Italian capital. Bryan Cristante, Pierluigi Gollini, Camelia Ceasar, Isabella Kresche and Moeka Minami, along with former Roma players Vincent Candela and Max Tonetto, and actor Antonio Giuliani, were volunteers for the day to lend a helping hand.

This time, the AS Roma Business Club community took action involving one of the club’s most socially engaged partners, Q8.

On Tuesday 25 March, thanks to the organisational support of Rise Against Hunger Italia, an association fighting poverty in various European countries and worldwide through meal-packing programmes, more than 200 Business Club members from companies connected to AS Roma gathered at the familiar Colosseo Lounge at the Stadio Olimpico. Their mission was to prepare 800 food kits, containing products from other partner companies such as La Molisana.

The kits will be delivered to five Empori della Solidarieta (Solidarity Stores) in Rome, managed by Caritas Roma, as part of the “Food for the Community” programme, which aims to support vulnerable families in the capital.

This is the welcome speech by Fabio CurtacciRetail & Marketing Director at Q8 Italia: "We are excited to have actively participated in this initiative, which reflects our values of social responsibility and commitment to the community, allowing us to make a tangible contribution to the local area".

Then the group got to work, supported by a special team of volunteers. This included numerous Q8 and AS Roma employees, led by Cristante, Gollini, Ceasar, Kresche and Minami, former Roma stars Candela and Tonetto, and lifelong Roma fan and actor Giuliani, who entertained the crowd with his humour, lightening the mood during the hard work.

“I’m pleased to bring you the greetings and thanks of the club’s ownership for your commitment and generous participation,” said Lucia Bernabe, AS Roma’s Head of Institutional Relations, at the end of the event. “This is just one of the many social impact initiatives we’ll carry out together in the coming months.”

“I’d like to thank everyone here today for preparing these gifts on behalf of the approximately 450 families who benefit from the five Caritas solidarity stores in Rome,” said Don Paolo Salvini, Deputy Director of Caritas Roma. “Today, you’ve made a meaningful contribution to this process, without knowing the faces of those who will receive your help, but you know that others will meet them, support them and deliver what you’ve prepared this afternoon.”

A day of team building and solidarity, making a difference both on and off the pitch!
