Holocaust Memorial Day: special screening for students at the AS Roma scientific secondary school

As part of Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January, the club organised an educational session to raise awareness among its student-athletes, in remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust.

This has become a significant and well-established tradition for the young players in AS Roma’s youth teams, who attend daily classes at the AS Roma scientific secondary school, where there is a focus on sport, in partnership with the Giovanni Paolo II Private Institute in Ostia, located at the Fulvio Bernardini training ground.

On this occasion, after introducing the theme of the Holocaust, the teaching staff screened the film The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, a cinematic adaptation of John Boyne’s novel, directed in 2008 by film-maker Mark Herman.

The film portrays the horrors of a concentration camp through the eyes of two eight-year-old boys, whose deep friendship transcends all barriers: the son of the camp commander and a Jewish prisoner in the camp.

This was a moment of reflection and awareness regarding one of the most tragic chapters in human history.
