‘Let’s Overcome Obstacles’: ‘Quiet Room’ for children with autism inaugurated at the Stadio Olimpico

On 31 October, coinciding with the Giallorossi’s game against Torino, AS Roma and Sport e Salute inaugurated the Quiet Room at the Stadio Olimpico. It’s a safe space in the stadium where children with autism are able to take in Roma matches.

The room has been set up in the Tribuna Monte Mario and is a comfortable and welcoming space that will allow children to watch Roma games free from stress, enjoying a unique and relaxing experience.

AS Roma and Sport e Salute will select different volunteer organisations to use the space for each match. The Quiet Room’s first guests, for Roma v Torino, was the “ScopriAMO l’autismo” association.

Additionally, as was already the case for Roma v Udinese, the club will continue to provide special noise-cancelling headphones to mascots with disabilities and hyperacusis when they take to the field with the players over the course of the season.

This expands the range of services offered by the ‘Let’s Overcome Obstacles’ project, which AS Roma launched in 2022 to make it easier for disabled fans to enjoy matches at the Stadio Olimpico. These include the ‘Unstoppable’ mobility service created in collaboration with Toyota/KINTO, the radios for audio descriptions of matches for visually impaired fans, and the translation of the anthem into sign language for supporters with hearing impairments.

Through this most recent project, in tandem with Sport e Salute, AS Roma are continue their commitment to making the Stadio Olimpico experience increasingly inclusive.
