The two weeks were filled with football action, while also promoting the values of inclusion and sharing through a range of educational activities to complement the hard work out on the pitch. These included lessons to prevent and combat bullying and cyberbullying, journalism classes on how to use the media sensibly and sessions to raise environmental awareness and promote a sustainable way of living.
Participants in AS Roma for Special, the team of athletes with intellectual and relational disabilities who wear the club’s colours, held a joint training session with the children, also adding to the event in their own way. AS Roma Women first-teamer Eseosa Aigbogun wanted to surprise the camp participants by meeting them while she was attending a rehabilitation session following an injury sustained in January.
The final day of the AS Roma Social Camp 2024 was attended by AS Roma’s General Counsel, Lorenzo Vitali, the Vice-President of the Lazio Regional Council, Giuseppe Cangemi, the President of Rome’s IX Municipality, Titti Di Salvo, the spokesperson for the Lazio Forum of the Third Sector, Francesca Danese and the Director of Caritas for the Diocese of Rome, Giustino Trincia. They were joined by park rangers who delivered greetings from Extraordinary Commissioner of the RomaNatura Regional Authority, Marco Visconti.
Before the official greetings, attendance certificates and Roma-themed toys were presented to the children as a way of remembering these two thrilling weeks, with mascot Romolo saying goodbye until next year.
