Saturday 1 June: Italian Paralympic Committee Open Day to play for AS Roma For Special

AS Roma for Special is a team of men and women aged 18 and above with with intellectual/relational disabilities who wear the Giallorossi kit through an adoption scheme and play in tournaments organised by the FIGC's Paralympic and Experimental Football division.

With the aim of recruiting more athletes and introducing the initiative to a wider group of people and families ahead of next season, an Open Day will be held at the Italian Paralympic Committee in Rome (Via delle Tre Fontane 27) this Saturday, 1 June 2024, from 1:30 to 13:00.

Club mascot Romolo will be attending the Open Day together with the Empoli for Special team, who will play AS Roma for Special in a friendly match. The youngsters who want to get involved can take part in an open training session and obtain all the information they need about the project.

The Paralympic and Experimental Football division was set up in 2019 by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) to organise and promote football activities for people with intellectual disabilities. The division runs 7-a-side football tournaments in 11 Italian regions with three different levels to ensure fair competition between teams with the same level of disability. The AS Roma for Special team also takes part in the Lega Unica Calcio a 8 tournament.
