AS Roma will introduce a simultaneous sign-language translation service in press conferences, which will be visible on the club’s media channels.
On Sunday 17 September when Roma take on Empoli, the walkout anthem will be accompanied by a sign-language interpretation shown on the two big screens at the Stadio Olimpico.
The initiative coincides with the International Week of Deaf People, which takes place from 18 to 24 September. This week is celebrated all over the world and aims to raise public awareness about deafness and sign language, as well as demanding equal rights and opportunities for all.
AS Roma took inspiration from the principles enshrined in a special resolution by the United Nations General Assembly that promotes the legal recognition of national sign languages and quality bilingual education. This resolution aims to ensure the full development and implementation of the human rights of the deaf community.
Together, “Superiamo gli Ostacoli!” (Let’s overcome obstacles!)
