A big welcome to our new mascot, Romina!

The name Romina came out on top in the voting on Socios.com ahead of Ersilia, Flora and Livia

AS Roma have unveiled a second mascot, Romina, who alongside Romolo will represent the club both on matchdays and for other club activities. The outcome of the Socios.com vote was revealed before Roma took on Sampdoria yesterday afternoon, and what better way to introduce yourself to your fans than with a resounding victory?

The reason Romina won the hearts of the fans was probably due to its long-standing connection to the Eternal City, since it’s a variant of ‘Romana’, meaning ‘inhabitant of Rome’ or ‘Citizen of the Roman Empire’.

The name clearly struck a strong chord with the thousands who cast their votes, 45% of which went with Romina.

1. Romina: 45.40 %
2. Livia: 21.97 %
3. Flora 19.76 %
4. Ersilia 12.87 %

Romina as a new mascot name had already gathered momentum during Roma v Barcelona in the UEFA Women's Champions League. The club set up a dedicated stand at the Toyota Fan Zone where supporters were able to give their opinions on the naming of the new mascot.
