Led by Head of Women's Football Betty Bavagnoli, players and staff from the Giallorosse spent time with members of the prison's five-a-side team, Atletico Diritti. The team, first formed in 2018, is made up of prisoners who train twice a week on the pitch inside the facility and also compete in a local league.
Club captain Elisa Bartoli and her fellow players were welcomed to a number of familiar stadium chants from their hosts, before giving out match gear and signed footballs to those in attendance.
The visit was also an opportunity to help contribute to the rehabilitation process the women at the prison are currently undergoing. Sport can play a vital role in the process of rebuilding trust, confidence and mutual respect within different communities, such as that of a football team.
Members from both teams rounded out the occasion by facing off in a penalty shootout. Despite two fine saves from Roma goalkeeper Camelia Ceasar, Atletico Diritti ultimately emerged victorious.
