It was the perfect start for Mourinho's side, who found themselves leading after just two minutes when Paulo Dybala's teasing corner found the head of Brazilain defender, Roger Ibanez. Three minutes later, Dybala turned provider once again in similar circumstances, however this time it was Tammy Abraham who headed home.
Roma controlled the rest of the game, albeit a couple chances for the vistiors, and had multiple chances to find that third goal to secure the win, but couldn't find a way past the Empoli defence.
The Giallorossi now have a few days to recover, before they start to think about next weekend's Serie A clash with Lecce.
