The Giallorosse opened up a small gap on their rivals at the top of the table with the impressive away victory in Lombardy, following on from a remarkable European comeback in midweek.
Annamaria Serturini scored her first goal of the season to break the deadlock on the stroke of half-time, lashing home at the second attempt after Haavi's powerful strike had hit the post.
In the second half it was Haavi herself who found the target; the Norwegian showing strength and speed to latch onto Giada Greggi's gorgeous pass before slotting her left-footed shot inside the far corner in style.
Inter - prior to the game the only side still unbeaten in Serie A - cut the deficit almost immediately through Elisa Polli, but an equaliser would prove beyond them as Alessandro Spugna's side saw out the contest in style.
"We are showing great character, because we've gone behind in a few games now and we've managed to come back and get a result - and in others we've managed to hold onto a lead," said Elisa Bartoli, the club captain who made her 100th appearance during the game.
"That has to help us believe that we can stay at the top of the table."
Spugna added: "It's a great feeling to win this one - coming off the back of such an intense spell, both in terms of the games played and the amount we've travelled.
"To come here to Milan, to play so well and to take the three points ... full credit to the players, they were extraordinary."
