Europa League 2022-23: Draw details

The draw, which takes place in Istanbul, is scheduled to get underway at 13:00 CEST.

As Europa Conference League winners, Roma are seeded for the draw and thus will be drawn from Pot 1 - meaning they will avoid some of the big names also in this phase of the competition.

They also cannot face another Italian side at this stage of the competition.

32 Teams

The 32 teams who have reached this stage of the competition are split into four pots, based on their UEFA co-efficient (which evaluates clubs' performances over the last five seasons in European competitions).

Roma are in Pot 1 by virtue of winning the Conference League last season, but would nonetheless fit in Pot 1 if their co-efficient was the decisive factor.

They will be drawn against one team from Pots 2-4.

The Four Pots

Pot 1: ROMA, Manchester United, Arsenal, Lazio, Sporting Braga, Red Star, Dynamo Kyiv, Olympiacos.

Pot 2: Feyenoord, Rennes, PSV Eindhoven, Monaco, Real Sociedad, Qarabag, Malmo, Ludogorets.

Pot 3: Sheriff, Real Betis, Midtylland, Bodo/Glimt, Ferencvaros, Union Berlin, Freiburg, Fenerbahce.

Pot 4: Nantes, HJK Helsinki, Sturm Graz, AEK Larnaca, Omonia Nicosia, Zurich, Union Saint Gilloise, Trabzonspor.

What Happens Next?

The winners of each Europa League group progress directly to the last-16 of the competition.

Those who finish second in the group head into a play-off phase, where they will face one of the eight third-place finishers from the Champions League group stage.

The winners of those head-to-head ties will then complete the last-16 draw.

Those who finish third in the Europa League groups will drop into the Europa Conference League knockout stage, while fourth-placed teams will exit European competition for the current campaign.
