Guidi will succeed Alberto De Rossi as the man in charge of AS Roma's Under-19 side, the most senior of the club's youth sides, ahead of the start of the 2022-23 campaign - following a past season spent as head coach at Serie C side Teramo.
He has recently also managed the first-team squads of both Gubbio and Casertana, also in Serie C.
“I would like to thank Vincenzo Vergine, Tiago Pinto and the club as a whole for the faith they are showing in me,” said Guidi.
“Joining a club like Roma is a hugely exciting moment for me. It will be a great responsibility to work within the Giallorossi youth sector, and to try and help as many players as possible reach the professional ranks.”
Guidi began his coaching career within Italian youth football over two decades ago, as he began by coaching some of the earliest age groups within the Empoli youth sector between 1999 and 2005.
In 2007 he joined Fiorentina, eventually progressing to coach the Viola’s Primavera side from 2014 until 2017 – as the team reached the final for the national title in the last of those.
Guidi then went on to enjoy two years working within the national team setup, coaching Italy Under-20s in 2017-18 and then the Under-19s a year later.
“I consider Federico to be a coach who is able to blend the competitive demands of a modern Primavera campaign with the parallel need to develop and improve players, having worked with youngsters of all age ranges in his career while also gaining invailable experience in the senior game,” said Vincenzo Vergine, AS Roma’s Head of Youth Development.
“From our very first conversations I felt there was a harmony there with the values and the targets that this club has set for itself, and we cannot wait to see him at work with our young players.”
