Borja Mayoral joins class for latest 'Scuola di Tifo'

The Spanish striker joined a school class in Rome to discuss fair play and more...

Spanish forward Borja Mayoral surprised students at the Domenico Bernardini Comprehensive School on Tuesday morning, as he joined them for the latest edition of ‘A Scuola di Tifo’.

Mayoral – who took his tally for the season to 17 goals at the weekend – spoke to 33 students at the school about the importance of fair play and respect, in life as well as sport.

He also answered questions from students on a number of topics.

“I play football because I enjoy it – but I also because I want to win,” Mayoral said.

“Obviously when my team doesn’t win a game I am not happy, but you always need to stay respectful and that is especially true when you lose.”

He added: “Soon we are playing in the derby, a really special game for the fans and one where the rivalry is really strong.

“But even in games like that it is important to set the right example for everyone watching it – showing respect for your opponent at all times.”

‘A Scuola di Tifo’ (‘The School of Support’) is an ongoing Roma Cares project, using the power of sport to teach schoolchildren around Rome about respect, fair play and equality and more.

This year the initiative is being organized in memory of Willy Monteiro, the youngster who was killed in Colleferro, near Rome, in an unprovoked attack in the summer of 2020.
