Pellegrini caps 150th appearance with two goals

Lorenzo Pellegrini marked his 150th appearance for Roma with his first-ever Serie A brace on Sunday evening, as Roma beat Crotone 5-0.

Pellegrini scored twice in three minutes midway through the second half at the Stadio Olimpico to effectively secure the three points for his side - and, with seven league goals now to his credit, the best goalscoring season of his career to date.

“We knew that they were coming here with nothing to lose, and it was tough to break the deadlock,” Pellegrini said. “We didn’t manage it in the first half, but in the second we got the breakthrough.

"It’s always great to score. I’ve really worked on that part of my game, it’s something I’ve been lacking a bit in the last few seasons. I’m pleased that I’ve been able to make that improvement.”

He added: “Now we are focused on two big, exciting games to play in. There’s Inter Milan, and then there is the derby.

"We want to make sure we finish as high as we can in the table – it’s not where we want to be, but it is where we are right now. We’ll give it everything.”
