Venom: I represent Roma with great pride

One of our gaming representatives for the upcoming eSerie A TIM, Emiliano 'Venom' Spinelli, spoke about the finer details of the virtual domestic tournament...

"This is the first-ever official esports tournament linked to the Serie A," Spinelli told Esquire Italia. "After an initial group stage, the elimination round will be composed of the top two teams from each of the four groups, and then the final eight teams will compete for the trophy."

When asked about his beginnings in the gaming industry, Emiliano stated: "I have been in the esports world for 13 years now, when the word 'esport' was not even known here in Italy. At the time, I was touring the peninsula competing in live events against the best competition the country had to offer as a beautiful hobby of mine. I have held virtually every role in the esports field, from event organiser to commentator, since I started.

"After winning a few of the first domestic titles in PES, esports has exploded in Italy, and I am honoured to have been one of the first PES players in the country to be playing regularly as a professional."

When he was asked about representing Roma on the virtual pitch, Spinelli went on to say, "Although the field is virtual, I experience all of the same emotions of any athlete: from the pre-match jitters to the mental toughness needed to see out a close match. I represent Roma with a sense of great pride, as they are the team of the city where I grew up and where I still live today.

"It is also a massive responsibility to represent the Giallorossi, given the ambition of the club in every single facet of business, but I have broad shoulders to manage these responsibilities!"
