During training on Monday, goalkeeper Antonio Mirante suffered the reoccurrence of a prior issue with his left knee.
On Wednesday morning Mirante underwent a scan, followed by a consultation with Professor Mariani - who confirmed the presence of some damage to the medial meniscus.
Minor corrective surgery, an arthroscopic partial medial meniscectomy, was suggested as the correct course of action.
The player subsequently underwent the procedure, which was completed successfully.
On Thursday the player will begin his rehabilitation programme. His return to first-team availability will be evaluated based on how that process continues.
