De Rossi - who made his first start for the club in three months at the weekend, after a spell on the sidelines through injury - made an early visit to the hospital's oncology and haematology wards, where around seventy patients (aged from 2-20) are treated for a variety of serious illnesses.
De Rossi spent over an hour with patients and their families, handed out gifts - and receiving a few himself - that included signed shirts.
He donated one to the hospital itself, writing on it 'To all the patients at the Bambino Gesu hospital'.
Toys Day is a regular club initiative, run in conjunction with Roma Cares, that sees players visit hospitals around the city to meet patients and hand out gifts.
