Hyundai and AS Roma are delighted to announce the start of a new multi-year partnership. The agreement builds on the existing partnership with Hyundai Motor Company – AS Roma's Main Global Partner and Official Car Partner.
Driven by a love for football and sport with no boundaries on sex or age, Hyundai Italia has decided to support AS Roma's new women's team – officially launched on 1 July 2018 – to once again promote positive sporting values while helping to fight prejudice in a sport which many people wrongly believe to be a male-only domain.
On the contrary, the women's game is growing all the time, becoming increasingly popular among players and fans alike.
The new partnership will see Hyundai Italia become AS Roma's Official Women Car Partner until the 2020-21 season. With the help of the team coached by Betty Bavagnoli, Hyundai Italia can underline its belief in the huge potential of the women's game while highlighting its passion for sport and promotion of youth.
“As part of our partnership with AS Roma, Hyundai Italia had a strong desire to also be out there on the pitch alongside AS Roma Women – and show our support for these girls, who are taking part in an exciting adventure,” said Andrea Crespi, managing director of Hyundai Italy.
“Women’s football is on the rise around the world, and in Italy too where they are making great strides thanks to increased visibility.
“Today, more than ever before, it is vital that we show our absolute belief in the power of women – as leaders every single day in both sport, work and life.”
The Hyundai logo will feature as the Back Sponsor on the women's official jerseys, as it does already for the men's senior team and the men's and women's Primavera (Under-19) teams. It will also appear on pitchside advertising boards at all of Roma Women's home games at Stadio Tre Fontane, at the training pitch and in various ways on the club's social media and digital channels.
“We're thrilled to expand our partnership with Hyundai,” said AS Roma chief revenue officer Francesco Calvo. “This is a global brand that has embraced the AS Roma Women project, thereby showing its desire – as our club has done – to keep up with the latest trends in football.”
To celebrate the launch of the partnership, a number of the Giallorosse girls – including Italy international Annamaria Serturini, Switzerland international Vanessa Bernauer and Jamaican international Allyson Swaby – featured in a video which was released via the Hyundai Italia and AS Roma Women social media channels.
The Hyundai logo will appear on the girls' shirts for the first time when they take on CF Florentia in a Serie A match at Stadio Tre Fontane on Saturday 9 February.
Hyundai has been a FIFA Top Partner since 1999, was engaged with UEFA for 18 years until 2017, and currently has partnerships with numerous national teams as well as individual women's clubs – besides AS Roma – such as Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Olympique Lyonnais.
