The 41-year-old Italian, who has a wealth of experience in the sporting world, joins the club from FC Barcelona, where he was chief revenue officer.
Prior to joining Barcelona in 2015, Francesco spent four years at Juventus, where he worked first as commercial director before being promoted to chief revenue officer.
Before working in football, Calvo previously held senior roles at Philip Morris International, where he worked on F1, motorsports and event marketing.
“I’m delighted to welcome Francesco to Roma from Barcelona,” said club president Jim Pallotta.
“When we decided to appoint a new Chief Revenue Officer to join our Executive Committee, Francesco was our first choice and we are very lucky to have him as he brings a wealth of experience in both the Italian and European football world. Francesco will be tasked with growing the club’s revenues globally so we can continue to compete at the highest level on and off the pitch.”
Francesco will take up his new role in September and join the club’s executive committee.
“I am very excited about joining AS Roma,” Calvo said. “This is a club with a tremendous vision for the future and represents one of the most innovative and interesting opportunities in the world of sports marketing.
"This is an exciting time for both Roma and Serie A, with the league showing very positive signs of growth, and I’m sure we have all the ingredients here to be successful in Italy and around the world.”
