Here's our top five...
The big hitman arrived in Trigoria on New Year's Day 2010 and immediately got down to work. There had been nothing to suggest Roma were title contenders up until that point but from there on in they began the long chase, clawing back seven points to overtake Inter at the top with three matches to play, only to then suffer heartbreak on the last day of the season. Despite sitting out for a month with an injury, Luca Toni was one of the stars of the second half of that campaign, his five goals in 15 appearances and famed 'ear twist' celebrations giving Romanisti reason to dream.
Roma president Franco Sensi bought Hidetoshi Nakata from Perugia for 30 billion lira – approximately €15 million – in January 2000. The immensely talented Japanese midfielder only stayed 18 months in the capital, most of which in Francesco Totti's shadow, collecting 30 appearances and five goals in that time. However, his performance in a crucial away game at Juventus will long live in the memory of Giallorossi fans. With Roma trailing 2-0, Hide first lashed in from 25 yards then forced a save with another long-range effort that allowed Vincenzo Montella to tap in the equaliser. He was the hero of the most important game of all as Roma marched towards their third Scudetto.
It seems like he's been around forever but Radja only joined Roma in January 2014, initially on loan. He may well go down as the winter signing with the biggest impact in Roma history. With his tireless running, silky skills, grit and determination, Nainggolan quickly established himself as a mainstay of the side and in July signed a contract tying him to Roma's colours until 2020. In two years he's clocked up 93 appearances and eight goals. Long may it continue.
The Brazilian defender joined Zdenek Zeman's side in January 1998 and immediately made one of the centre-back berths his own. Antonio Carlos Zago kept his place in the side under Fabio Capello and formed a rock-solid back three with Walter Samuel and Aldair as the Giallorossi claimed the league title in 2000-01. Fans remember Zago as one of the constants of that title-winning side.
Vincent Candela was not an instant success. Roma were in the doldrums when he joined during Carlos Bianchi's one-season reign in January 1997 but the Frenchman and the team were revitalised following the arrival of Zdenek Zeman that summer. Candela went from strength to strength under 'Il Boemo' producing a stream of top-class displays in the No.32 shirt that rightly earned him a place in the AS Roma Hall of Fame in 2014. He helped the Giallorossi win a Scudetto and an Italian Super Cup and will be remembered as one of the best Roma full-backs of all time.
