1. Federico Julian Fazio was born in Buenos Aires on 17 March 1987.
2. He learned his footballing trade in the Ferro Carril Oeste youth academy before joining Sevilla B in January 2007. He was drafted into the Spanish club's first team at the start of 2007-08.
3. In 2007 he won the FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Canada.
4. A year later, he had moved up to Argentina U23 and won gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
5. He added two Europa League titles to his trophy haul while at Sevilla. He started the 2013-14 final against Benfica in Turin and picked up a second winner's medal in 2015-16. Fazio was also a member of Sevilla's squad in 2006-07, when the Andalusians won the second of their five Europa League trophies.
6. Standing 1.98 metres tall, he's particularly strong in the air winning 70% of aerial duels.
7. He also poses an aerial threat in an attacking sense. Since 2007-08, only two defenders in La Liga have scored more headed goals than him with 11: Sergio Ramos (19) and Javi Martinez (15).
8. He scored at least two goals a campaign in his last three full seasons for Sevilla.
9. In the Europa League 2013-14, he recorded the highest number of defensive blocks with 85.
