Inzaghi: We'll have to play with everything we have

ISN

See what Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi had to say ahead of Tuesday's Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Roma.

Lazio go into the clash with the first leg advantage, but the coach is not taking anything for granted...

How will you manage the game given the first-leg score?

“We see it as half time. We're 2-0 up but we won't take anything for granted: we'll go out there and play our game, just as we did in the first leg. What I'm most concerned about us is recharging our batteries in time because our match on Saturday took a lot out of us – Sassuolo made it really hard for us. We'll have to recover our energy well between today and tomorrow.”

Would you say Lazio have a 51% chance of going through?

“I think it's hard to put a percentage on it. They were favourites before the first leg but now it's as if we had a one-off match. Our chances are higher now because we're winning 2-0 at half time but we're going to need to be at our very best.”

What sort of Lazio side can we expect to see?

“We have great respect for Roma and we know we'll have to work really hard if we want to get a result. We must remember our strengths but be willing to put in the effort and the legwork. If we've come this far it's because we've deserved it.”

Will you need to play more with your hearts or your heads?

“We'll have to play with everything we have – hearts, heads and legs. This is the mother of all games.”

You'll be without Marco Parolo, though...

“We'll miss him for sure but I have complete faith in whoever comes in. We've often had important players missing over the course of the season and the lads have always produced the goods. I'm not worried at all.”

Will you play the same way as in the first leg?

“Every game is different. We'll prepare for it as best we can and switch a few things around tactically. You do different things for different games. What matters is getting your approach right.”

Are you worried about Roma's home advantage?

“I'm glad we'll see the Olimpico back to its usual self tomorrow. Roma are playing at home and they'll have more of their own fans there but ours will make up for the 15,000 difference. I know what Lazio fans are about and I know what the derby means. They know how to make themselves heard on the big occasions no matter how many of them there are. They'll be right there behind us trying to drive us on to the final, which would be a fantastic achievement.”

Would a goal be enough to book your place in the final?

“It would mean a lot if we get a goal but every match has its own story. We must play with real intensity and give 120% and perhaps more. A goal might not be enough. We all saw what happened to PSG against Barcelona: they had a first-leg lead and scored an away goal but it wasn't enough. In any case, the lads are confident we can finish off the job.”
