Pioli: We're ready to give everything against Roma

PIO

Inter Milan coach Stefano Pioli believes Sunday's match sees two of the strongest sides in Serie A face off - but feels it is exploiting weaknesses that could prove the difference.

Inter go into the game eight points adrift of the Giallorossi, and know they need to close the gap if they want to qualify for the Champions League come the end of the season.

"The team that wins on Sunday will be the one that best exploits the other's weaknesses," Pioli said. "We've been preparing well for this game and we'll put everything we have into it. Roma are a top-level side but Inter have got what it takes to beat them.

"This is not a [Champions League] play-off. People normally talk about a play-off when the sides are level on points. We're playing catch-up at the moment and we know games like this are even more important for us.”

The Nerazzurri are without central defender Miranda for the contest through suspension, but have captain Mauro Icardi to call upon.

“Miranda is a fantastic defender but we have a strong squad and whoever comes in for him will be up to the task," the coach added. "Icardi is top-class and his return is obviously a big boost for us, although the lads who played in his place showed what they can do too. He can't wait to get back out there. He's determined to do well.

“He's always capable of making a difference – not just for the goal threat he provides, but with his movement and the way he drags defenders about. He's our captain.

“It takes time to build a successful team. You have to work on the players' mentality as a group. Inter have solid foundations in place and with the right plans and sound investment we'll be up there with Juve, Roma and Napoli.”
