Florenzi pleased to deliver vital win

Alessandro Florenzi believes Roma sent the message they wanted to on Sunday night, after an important 2-0 victory over AC Milan.

The Giallorossi grabbed all three points at San Siro thanks to goals from Florenzi and, five minutes prior, Edin Dzeko - as Eusebio Di Francesco's side made it five wins from six games so far this season in Serie A.

Afterwards, Florenzi admitted he was relieved to score after missing a good chance when the score was still 0-0.

"I could have done better with the chance I had before," Florenzi said. "This is a great win – it’s the message we wanted to send and this was the right match to prove it. AC Milan are still a great side and they will be fighting at the top until the end, but we deserved it tonight."

On his goal being a personal milestone, he added: "I was desperate to return, to score and to get back to what I love: playing football."

The No. 24 was then asked if Roma were among the contenders for the title.

"Time alone will tell," he said. "We need to keep showing this will to win and keep improving the standard of our performances. We’re focused on us and on our season."
