Alisson: Winning against Napoli is a big confidence boost

ALIS

Read everything the Roma goalkeeper had to say after Saturday night's 4-2 win at the Stadio San Paolo...

The Brazil international made a number of important saves as the Giallorossi produced a sparkling display against the Serie A leaders.

“The whole team played brilliantly today," Alisson said. "We made fewer mistakes than we have in recent games and we took our chances up front – that's why we won.

“We played at the same level for 90 minutes and we were on the ball tactically because we carried out the boss's instructions closely.

"It's not easy to close down a team like Napoli but we picked our moments well. Winning this game is a big confidence boost.”

How do you explain your brilliant form of late?

“I'm highly focused on my goals and my belief in God helps me in that sense too. I wake up every morning ready to go out to work hard so that I can improve. That doesn't change: I work just as hard when I've been playing well.”

Do you think Roma were written off too easily before this game?

“That's football for you. One minute you're flying high and the next minute you're struggling.

“Napoli had lots of shots on goal but none of them were really clean hits and I have my team-mates to thank for that. Beating a great team like Napoli is a real fillip for us.”

Who are you up against in the race for Champions League spots? Inter, Lazio or yourselves?

“We have to challenge ourselves. We have to be consistent and we needed a game like today's where we could play the same way for 90 minutes, with every man weighing in. Apart from the two goals we conceded, we all did our jobs almost perfectly today.”
