    Ranieri comments on Milan draw

Claudio Ranieri took questions from the DAZN studio after the 1-1 draw with AC Milan.

Here's what our coach had to say...

Roma seemed to be playing a lot more freely – this was one of the team's best away performances of the season.

“I agree. Everything they did to us in the first half we did to them in the second. Neither side was able to get the second goal, which is quite incredible. But it was a great game, very lively, with both teams playing to win. It ended up as a draw, which is a fair result, and it was enjoyable for both sets of fans.”

Did you take off Mats Hummels and Manu Kone because they were both on a yellow? When Zeki Celik came on, it looked like you were playing four at the back in possession then reverted to three when defending.

“Yes, I subbed them off because I was worried about getting a second yellow. I wanted to keep playing 11 v 11 and not have the regret of not taking off the booked players.

“With Celik on, we defended with a back three, with [Alexis] Saelemaekers right wing-back and Angelino left wing-back, then he pushed up when we had the ball."

We haven't seen Paulo Dybala playing like this in a while. What have you done to revitalise him and how much of a help to him is Saelemaekers?

“I think the whole team is helping him. He's training regularly, which is something he wasn't able to do before. It makes us happy because when Paulo is in this sort of form it's worth paying the price of the ticket to see a footballer with that star quality.”

How are Roma looking going into the derby?

“We have to recuperate our energy now. Lazio are having a really good season – credit to their players and [Marco] Baroni, who's doing an excellent job. The derby is a completely different prospect to anything else. The derby is... well, the derby.”
