'Let’s Play Together' in Corviale: social inclusion tournament with AS Roma for Special

The latest instalment of AS Roma's 'Let’s Play Together” initiative, which promotes social inclusion and cohesion, was held in the Corviale district of the capital on Wednesday.

Youngsters with intellectual-relational disabilities from the AS Roma for Special team, who play in the FIGC's Paralympic championship, visited the Campo dei Miracoli (Pitch of Miracles) to take part in a three-team tournament, accompanied by Roma U19 players Leonardo Graziani and Giulio Misitano.

Their opponents were the host side Calcio Sociale (Social Football), a team set up with the aim of encouraging integration in the difficult conditions of the Corviale district, and Frolla Football Team from the Marche region. Besides organising sporting activities, Frolla offers its athletes the unique opportunity of working in Frolla Microbiscottificio, a mini-biscuit shop run by youngsters with disabilities.

Rome Municipio XI president Gianluca Lanzi, Calcio Sociale founder Massimo Vallati and Cooperativa Sociale Frolla Microbiscottificio co-founder Gianluca Di Lorenzo gave an official welcome before proceedings began.

The tournament was watched by many children from the area, who also had the chance to take part in a workshop on the importance of a healthy diet, held in the sports centre gym.

A fun, different afternoon carried out in the name of inclusion and solidarity ended with a special gift for all participants from Frolla Football Team: a souvenir biscuit of the event bearing the AS Roma logo.
