Match Pack: Roma Women start season against Pomigliano

Alessandro Spugna's side start off with an away trip to face Pomigliano - the game at the Stadio Ugo Gobbato getting underway at 17:30 CEST.

Here are the details to know ahead of the game...

    Form Guide

Roma have played two competitive matches already this season, beating Glasgow City and then Paris FC (on penalties) in the first phase of the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Pomigliano will be kicking off their competitive season on Sunday. The side has been refreshed significantly and there is also a new manager at the helm: Nicola Romaniello.

    General Statistics

The Giallorosse have won each of their last three meetings with Pomigliano across all competitions, including both matches in last season's Serie A.

Last season Roma won their opening game of the league season for the first time in their history - after two defeats and a draw in the seasons prior to that. On that occasion, Roma won 3-0 against Empoli.

Spugna's side ended last season 16 games unbeaten in the league (14 wins, two draws), which was the longest unbeaten run of any side in the division. Their last Serie A loss came in October 2021 (against Inter Milan).

Pomigliano lost 3-0 against Juventus in their opening game of last season.

The side from Campania picked up 23 points over the course of the season, the third best record of any newly-promoted side over the last five seasons.

Pomigliano finished the 2021-22 season with a win to help them stay up and so a victory on Sunday could see them win two games in a row in the top-flight for the first time since October 2021.

Summer signing Stephanie Ohrstrom was the goalkeeper who made more saves than any other in Serie A last season.

No player won more duels than another new Roma player, Norma Cinotti, during Serie A last season (131).
