Roma Women ready for biggest match to date

Roma Women will play arguably the biggest match of their existence so far on Sunday afternoon – and forward Annamaria Serturini is up for the challenge.

The Giallorosse travel to Turin to face Juventus in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals, with kick-off at 12:30 CEST.

The game will be shown live on Roma TV+.

Juventus have lost just once in Italian football all season – in the first leg meeting with Roma, as Betty Bavagnoli’s side ran out 2-1 winners.

Now Serturini and her teammates are hoping to build on that advantage, and secure a first-ever cup final appearance for the club.

“This is definitely the most important game of the last three years,” Serturini said.

“We are ready for it, we know how good we are and we know we are going up against the best team in the league. We can’t try and sit on our first leg advantage. We’ll have to approach things like it’s starting 0-0, as always.”

After a difficult first half to the 2020-21 season, since the turn of the New Year the Giallorosse have largely been in fine form – and last weekend strengthened their grip on a top-four finish with an impressive come-from-behind win over Fiorentina.

But Juventus will be a bigger challenge yet.

“It will be a great game, a difficult one for many reasons,” Serturini added.

“We know the quality Juventus have. With every attack they have a lot of individual quality they can call upon.

“We can’t allow ourselves to make any mistakes – we will need to put in a perfect performance.”
