AS Roma Academy opens in Quito

The club is pleased to announce the opening of its first official academy in South America - as one launches in Quito, the capital of Ecuador.

The club has signed a three-year agreement with Marketfit S.A.S. for the expansion and development of the academy project in the country.

"The planned expansion of our academy network naturally had to include an element in South America, a country that has always had a great passion for the game of football," said Francesco Calvo, the club's COO.

"We are pleased to be starting in Ecuador, and to be able to share our training approach and ethos there."

Young players enrolled at the new Quito Academy will have the chance to experience training sessions that following the same methodology and structure employed by the club's youth sector in Rome - while there will also be scholarship opportunities available to the most deserving pupils.

"We strongly believe that sport can be an important tool for teaching life skills like perseverance, respect and responsibility," said Bruno Ivich, Director of the Quito Academy.

"That is why we are more than pleased to have reached this agreement, which will be both AS Roma's first academy in South America - and the first such academy in Ecuador for a major European club."
