10 facts to know about new signing Pedro!


On Tuesday afternoon Spain international Pedro Rodriguez became the club's first signing of the summer, as he joined the Giallorossi on a three-year deal.

The 33-year-old, winner of 25 major trophies in his career to date, is looking to continue his winning ways at his new club in this next chapter of his career.

But what has got him to this point? Here are a few facts worth knowing about the newest addition to coach Paulo Fonseca's squad...


WELCOME TO ROMA, PEDRO!


1. Born Pedro Eliezer Rodriguez Ledesma, he was born on 28 July 1987 on the island of Tenerife.

2. After playing for local side San Isidro, Pedro was scouted by Barcelona – and joined the club when he was 17.

3. Pedro made his debut for Barcelona as a 20-year-old in 2008 – coming on against Murcia in a game where he wore ‘Pedrito’ on his back.

4. Pedro was a late substitute for Barcelona during the 2009 Champions League final – played at the Stadio Olimpico.

5. During the 2009-10 season, Pedro became the first player in history to score in six club competitions in a single season. They were La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

6. In 2011 Pedro scored in the Champions League final as Barcelona beat Manchester United. Eight years ago, he scored in the Europa League final to help Chelsea lift the trophy. He is one of just five players to have scored in the final of both competitions.

7. Barcelona are the only European club to have done the domestic treble twice – and Pedro was a part of both of them.

8. Pedro has won a total of 25 trophies in his career to date. They include both La Liga and the Premier League, along with the FA Cup and Copa del Rey.

9. The winger was a member of Spain’s triumphant squad for both the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship. He played in five games in the 2010 tournament, including the final.

10. In total he has made 65 appearances for Spain to date, scoring 17 goals. He will become the 13th Spanish player to represent Roma - joining the likes of Joaquin Peiro, Luis Del Sol and Pep Guardiola.
