1. Emerson was born on March 13, 1994 in Santos, Brazil.
2. Palmieri played his way up through the youth ranks at Santos, his local club, before making his first team debut at the age of 18. Interesting fact: Santos actually rejected former Roma star Cafu when he was a teenager.
3. On June 17, 2012, Emerson made his Brazilian Série A debut in a 1-nil defeat against Flamengo.
4. On August 25, 2014, Emerson was loaned to Italian club Palermo, debuting for them as a substitute on September 24. He would go on to make a total of 9 substitute appearances during the 2014-15 season.
5. Emerson may be a left-back but he plays with the trademark Brazilian attacking style, utilizing his speed and athleticism to join the offense whilst still covering defensive duties.
6. The Brazilian faced his new club on the final day of the Serie A season in May. He played 30 minutes as a substitute in Palermo’s 2-1 win at the Olimpico.
7. He is the second Emerson to play for Roma – his fellow countryman played for the Giallorossi between 2000-2004, helping the team to lift the Scudetto in 2001.
8. When he makes his Roma debut, Emerson will join a long tradition of Brazilians to wear the Roma shirt. He will become the 38th Brazilian to play for Roma, joining his fellow countrymen Leandro Castan and Maicon in the current squad.
9. Emerson has represented his country at U17 level, scoring one goal so far in his international career.
