Florenzi: A victory for all the fans

The boyhood Romanista started the game on the bench but was called into action after Mohamed Salah was stretchered off with the home side leading 1-0 thanks to a Edin Dzeko penalty.

A Gervinho goal after 63 minutes was enough to wrap up all three points for Roma and afterwards, Florenzi was keen to pay tribute to the supporters – both inside and outside the stadium.

"We'd like to dedicate today's match to the fans, even those who weren't there,” claimed the Italian international. “In terms of atmosphere, the derby wasn't the same and I'm talking about both sets of fans because they are both great supporters.

“We hope this situation will be resolved soon. This win is for our supporters in the stadium, who wanted to be there with us, and for those who came to the hotel this morning. It's also for all Romanisti, like Daniele De Rossi and Francesco Totti, who weren't out there on the pitch but were with us in spirit.

How pleased were you with the performance?

"It's always great when you win a derby in this fashion, creating loads of opportunities and giving little away to the opposition. We made sure they knew what we were about."

You turned away in the Champions League on Wednesday when Roma got a penalty but you actually managed to watch it today...

"Edin Dzeko was standing over the ball so I was more confident he'd score! No, I'm joking obviously. I wanted to show that sometimes superstition doesn't exist."

Did today's win prove to Inter that you're still in there?

"There's a long way to go in this league. Even if we lost, it wouldn't have meant anything. Obviously we won and that's much better. Now let's push on."
