"The emotions are the same as last year when we proudly represented Italy in the final four in Nyon," revealed the Primavera coach. "Even though we lost, we were competing for a spot in the final of a competition that's proving to be the best on the international scene."
The Giallorossi get under way at 16:00 CET on Wednesday for a berth in the last-16 of the competition.
How were the boys in training today?
"We prepare for every match in the same way, but it's obvious that the emotions going into such an important tie are different. We're very confident.
"We have Sadiq Umar back with us who will partner Edoardo Soleri in attack and we've also got Marco Tumminello and Andrea Paolelli back to fitness.
"We know we're very competitive and that's why we remain calm but also aware that we're coming up against a very good side."
How is Abdullahi Nura doing?
"As Luciano Spalletti has also said, one second you see him here, the next he's on the other side of the pitch. He was out for a couple of months but he's got back to full fitness and he will show his ability."
What is there to fear about Red Bull Salzburg?
"Their organisation. Let's not forget that seven of their starting XI compete in the Austrian second division with the B team. This gives them great experience, plus the other three also feature for the first team in the top flight.
"Salzburg might not be a huge name in football, but today we've had the opportunity to admire their academy and understand how seriously they take the youth teams.
"This competition doesn't only ensure our players develop but those of us on the coaching staff as well. Seeing these facilities pushes us on to make progress."
